My primary responsibility as a Product Owner is to maximize value for the products’ users and my client.
There is potential to identify value on many levels. My broad experience helps me to see and understand connections, correlations, between knowledge, technical, customer and business aspects.
Most importantly, I focus on solving customer needs in order to prioritise and effectively creating value for users and customers.
I like to involve the entire team to determine, what creates value and then act decisively, in order to deliver early.
-
Establishing a clear understanding who is going to use the product, and what the needs and perhaps problems are, is key.
Decision making relies heavily on the evaluation whether or to which degree the user or customer benefits. The shared understanding of who the product is built for and why, pretty much forms the main line of arguing in the development process.
I can help understanding user and customer needs and turn them into elementary foundations on which the product can be effectively developed and opportunities can be easier identified.
-
Together with stakeholders I support co-creating product vision and strategy. The goal is for the team to own the product vision – in my experience this ownership is an evolving iterative process, which I am able to guide by emphatic communication, providing tangible formats of goals and user stories.
-
I am a strong advocate for pragmatic approaches in contrast to excessive reliance on dogmatic rules. Routines, rules and processes have all their place and exist for a reason. When they start to become the center of attention – and get in the way to deliver solutions and slow down progress, it might be time for a more pragmatic approach.
I am a strong believer in logic reasoning, involving all necessary expertise, clear communication of chances and risks and then move decisively and make decisions, which enable the team to deliver a result, which has a chance to demonstrate its value – even if it means that rules and processes had to be briefly adapted.
-
As a product owner, every now and then, one finds oneself in a situation where the basis on which to make a decision is not fully clarified- the information upon which you want to decide is incomplete. By keeping a pro-active momentum and make quick decisions I’d like to keep the chance of fast delivery of value.
Products with Perspective
I help teams to build great products.
I am fascinated by how technology can not only facilitate us to achieve our objectives, but also opens up new ways, how people interact with their environment and each other. I address these continuously evolving interdependencies with an agile and curious mindset, a broad knowledge base, a high level of creativity to spot hidden potentials, a methodical approach to product development and foremost a deep understanding of the user.

Background
My background is within User Experience Design.
As an User Experience Designer you act as a mediator between the users of the product, the business stakeholders and the development team.
In this role I used to analyse and communicate the respective requirements and created early in the development process, the basis upon which the product would be developed.
Closely aligned to the product management at first, I grew more and more into the role as product owner, when agile working methods were introduced and cross-functional scrum teams emerged.
I am a certified Product Owner (PSPO I) and have more than fifteen years of experience in working for a wide range of companies.
Before I started out as freelancer, I worked for Meta Design AG in the capacity as Design Director and worked on projects for Siemens, Nokia Siemens Networks, Vodafone, Deutsche Post, DHL, Entega, Volkswagen, Voith, Südtirol, iGuzzini and many more.
Shortly after my studies, I co-founded the Interaction Design Studio Monomo in London. Next to tailored solutions for private/public institutions and companies, the studio developed groundbreaking e-Learning applications for users with special needs.
